Creazy world

It was a strange week. At saturday night the 16th of January we've had a layer of snow. It was fantastic to see so many people going out for a walk with theire children. At sunday the snow was gone. Sunday I was in shock to see at the news how hundereds of people came together in Amsterdam to demonstrate against the Corona-rules. A lot of agression was shown and the demonstration only could be ended by water cannons. What is going on in people's minds? The crisis now only lasts 11 month's. How did the youth grow up in the war 1940-1945? At wednesday we've had a lot of rain. It's great to have to walk with my dog on these days. I was drenched but it was wonderful to hear the birds sing let me believe that spring is on it's way. At thursday the noise of the storm woke me up very early in the morning. But in the afternoon  there was silence again. Since yesterday we are having a curfew. No problem for me but some youngster are thinking different. A testlocation for the COVID was set into fire. I am so greatful to have a small garden that shows every day something to enjoy and brings happy feelings. And helps me to forget everything what's happening.

A wonderful feeling shows up to see the first flowers of the Camelia

New growth in the Clematis

Also the Treepeony is showing that it's alive

Also the Lady Bug woke up

Can't wait to hear the Blackbird sing again

Wonderful to see the tiny flowers of the mini-orchid at the moment.

Have a wonderful sunday and a great, healthy new week ahead.

  1. Good morning dear Marijke,

Yes, we live in a crazy world. The Covid19 is a ghost who will hunt us for a long time. I feel sorry for young children and teenagers who get their childhood in a "prison". I guess we can compare with the time during 1940-45.
Your camellias and helleborus are so beautiful. It's lovely to see that spring is coming. I long for it!

    Have a beautiful day!
    Rosehugs, Marit

    1. Good afternoon dear Marit,
It are strange times for all of us. I am greatefull that we live in a democracy but what I don't understand is that the demonstrations most of the time end up with a lot of violence.
Like every year I am longing for a beautiful springtime. To me the most beautiful time of the year.
      Have a wonderful sunday Marit

  2. These are beautiful images, especially the first one with the rain drops on the petals. As for the Covidiots every country has its share I am afraid, and I don't know how you convince them otherwise.

    1. Hey David,
Yes every country has it's own small group of idiots. Two more demonstrations are annouced for this afternoon. Signals have since emerged that people want to come with weapons and are willing to commit violence. A thing that does'nt make me feel happy. We will see what will happen.
I wish you a beautiful day (ore sweet dreams).

  3. Hello dear Marijke
It is very sad to see all the things that happens. Many people are crazy, In Copenhagen they are demonstrating a lot of them together in big groups as if it is getting better doing that. We have had storm and rain too, but today I heard som birds. Let us hope it will soon be spring.
I enjoyed your flowers Helleborus and Camelia, something is happening in our gardens. We need it.

    1. Good morning dear Lisbeth,
It is shocking to see what is happening in Holland. What's happening now has nothing to with demonstrating but an attack of criminals against democracy. And I have the feeling that the end of it is'nt there. What's the use of throwing stones to the windows of a hospital. I am speachless. It shows also how dangerous social media like facebook are. It's better to look what's happening in the garden and listen to the birds. I've got a phonecall from my daughter yesterday who's living in Eindhoven how scarry the situation was yesterday. It looked like a civil war was going on. Never thought that things like this would happen in Holland.
Have a wonderful new week ahead.

  4. Hello Marijke, Beautiful flower images. I love the first image with the rain drops. and it's nice to see budding plants.
Portugal is now the worst country in Europe for Covid deaths ( out of a thousand) It's very scary. We have not had riots, but it's all escalating out of control, as some people don't believe that wearing a mask or keeping your distance is of importance.

It's good to have a garden and welcome the first flowers of the new year. It helps to forget the crazy things that are happening all over the world. Human's are the ones that are difficult to get under control. The only thing we can do is to protect our selves by following up the advice. Let's hope things get better very soon.
Enjoy your day we never know what tomorrow will bring.

  5. My dear Marijke, I just watched a video of the riots in Amsterdam and Eindhoven on Guardian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evmo5aG377Q
It is so sad and so frightening, I want to give you lots of hugs, real ones, tight ones. I wish I could say, it gets better, but I can't, not yet. I just make sure my house is warm and there is food to eat and hunker down. Rose-colored glasses, for sure.

I can remember police on horseback patrolling in San Francisco. It's a great way to go ... the horses can go almost anywhere very quickly and they are so very huge. As I little girl I came up just above their knees.

First camellias are blooming here, too.

No snow here, but finally some very welcome rain and what the weatherman calls "active weather".

    1. Good morning dear Jane,
I never thought that things like this could happen in a country like Holland. But things looks different now.
My daughter is living in Eindhoven and called me yesterday and told me how frightening the situation was. Like a war was going on. What happened here had nothing to do with a peacefull demonstration but was an attack of criminals against our democracy. It also shows that the so called "social"media can be very dangerous. Maybe it would help to block facebook and other social media for a couple of weeks. So the idiots don't have the chance to call up others to come and fight. I hope that the situation does'nt escalcaletes and will grow out to a civil war. My little garden is showing me the way to get ride of the negative thoughts that I have. I don't have the agressive feelings about the coronarules. I am also greatfull to have a warm house and a good meal on the table every day. Let's hope things get better soon. I thank you for your warm words it means a lot to me.
Have a wonderful new week ahead. And enjoy today because we never know what tomorrow will bring.

  6. The same nonsense re: people demonstrating due to covid-19 is happening everywhere. I just don't know how peoples brains work these days. When we were young we always respected authority and did as we were told.
Love your beautiful white Camelia flower.

    1. Good morning dear Rosemary,
The whole situation at the moment brings me so many questions. I hope to reach the 63 in a couple of weeks and I don't understand what is going on. Yes what happened with the respect. It also shows how dangerous social media and chatservices are. We've got the first telephone in the house when I was 19. Parents are not able to controle theire children anymore. It's not easy to keep the children away of the social media where the riots are revered as heroes. Asking myself what is going on with the responsability of parents reading in the news that children of 14 were arrested. What are they doing on the streets so late in the evening while we are told to stay at home after 9.00 pm. People are complaining about theire rights of privacy now that the police is surching on social media only to protect us and to protect other people's properties to be damaged. Who's going to pay the bill of all the damage that's brought by those idoits.
My questions won't be answerd. I wish I had THE solution but I don't.
I wish you a beautiful day, take care, stay safe

  7. The last Hellebore photo is particularly beautiful. The camellia is pure and perfect.

I thought the USA had the worst Covidiots...perhaps every country has a few. We have Trumpidiots, too. :( I saw the story of the trouble in your country. I was very sad.

My Grandmother and her family lived in the horse barn for four years in WWII just outside of Ypres. The Germans came and took their house as an HQ and forced them into the barn, and killed their horses. People today in many places do not know how bad things can get.

Best wishes for gardens and peace!

    1. Hello dear Hoover Boo,
I never thought that things like this could happen in a free and peacefull country like Holland. But the truth is different. I hoped it was just one evening but last night the idiots had partytime again. Yes idiots are in every country. And also in Holland we have Trump's. It's terrible to read where your parents were going trough in the war. And great respect for them that they picked up theire lives and made the best of it. And I agree that a lot of people don't realize what can happen if things get out of controle. I hope things are getting better everwhere in the world. Have a great time in the garden.
Rosehugs Marijke, take care and stay safe!!!

  8. Guten Morgen Marijke,
