I love this rose. I have no idea why this rose is called a morbide rose. Lovely
scented and flowers with the shape of a skirt of a balletdancer.
I am not so good in organizing my photo's. The reason why I made a page about all the birds who visit my garden. A job that's still in progress. Sorting out the photo's of the birds is a great job for this weekend. The weatherforecast give code RED starting at 9 pm for frost, frostedrain, snow and strong winds. Hard to imagine that last week brought 8C. My hands itched to start working in the garden (but I did not). Lucky enough there was a shop opened to buy soil to give the new planted roses of last year enough protection against the expected cold.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Stay warm and safe

It is a beautiful rose, Marijke. I love its unusual ruffled petals. Our weather is so mild (coastal California is considered a Mediterranean climate) that we can garden year-round, which can be a mixed blessing! Still, given the pandemic, it is nice to be able to retreat to my garden when I cannot go anywhere else. Most of our garden centers have remained open, although I have restricted my visits to the closest one since last March. I stopped going even there in mid-December when the virus was raging here and all these new variants were appearing. Although our current trend is positive our numbers in Los Angeles County are still not good. I am hopeful that things will improve more dramatically as more and more people get vaccinated. Best wishes for better weather and more freedom of movement!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGood morning dear Kris,
VerwijderenMust be great to have flowers in the garden the whole year-round. How different it is in Holland. Every day I go out to see if something did wake up in the garden (fun). Special in these Covid-pandemic times I am gratefull that I have something to look for in the garden. A lockdown here since 10th of december so not able to visit a gardencentre. From next monday it's possible to order things by telephone and make an appointment to pick up the ordered things (outside). Even with having a Carfew here numbers don't go down. I hope with you that times get better soon.
Have a wonderful day and take care and stay safe.
Good evening dear Marijke,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour rose is very pretty, and I love the color. I envy your warm climate. Right now it's - 12 C here, and I long very much for spring.
Have a nice weekend.
Rosehugs, Marit
Good afternoon dear Marit,
VerwijderenUntil yesterday I had the feeling that spring could not be far away. But things has chanched now. Frost, a lot of snow and the stormy winds makes it spooky outside. And for the week ahead the frost can give temperatures of -20C during the nights later this week. Brrrr, I know I wanted really winterweather (fun)
Have a wonderful sunday.
Rosehugs Marijke

Have a wonderful rest of the week ahead.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenAnother strong color for a rose. But her pretty curly petticoat gives her a lot of charm!
Have a nice Sunday behind the computer.
Good morning dear Gine,
VerwijderenThis rose has many colors in it. I love the beautiful shape of the flowers.
Have a wonderful day
Rosehugs Marijke
It is cold and white here so the rose looks very warm and welcoming,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGood morning David,
VerwijderenAlso winterly cold at your place. I love to see winter after having so many mild winters in the past. Have a wonderful day!!!
Marijke
Hi Marijke,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI didn't know these roses, they are so beautiful.
I especially loved the last photo.
Take care and have a wonderful Sunday
Good morning dear Maria,
VerwijderenYes this rose is a very special one to me.
Have a wonderful day
Rosehugs Marijke
A lovely rose, Marijkje! It reminds me (a tiny bit) of the colour of the apothecary's rose, Rosa gallica- the dark variety.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI heard about code red from Noordwijk - better to stay inside (which I do in Berlin too - ice-cold, no way to get my 10.000 stepjes per day).
Good morning dear Britta,
VerwijderenI love this rose because it has so many colors in it and also the ruffled petals are beautiful.
It's still cold in Holland too! But it's nice to have winter weather.
It's always good to go out even when it's cold outside.
Stay warm and save
Rosehugs Marijke
Excellent blog!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove the photos, especially of the flowers.
I'm in Brazil and they are quite different to what we have here.
