Last day of February

When you feed the birds you also have birds visiting the garden that are beautiful but you don't like to see because they have the little birds on theire menu. When this Sparrow-Hawk shows up it's very quiet in the garden for a long time because the other birds are hiding. If you are a wildlife lover please take a look at the beautiful blog of the Norwegian Professional Photograper Tom Dyring Wildphoto click link. Gardenlife is beautiful. Temperatures droped here. Last monday +18C and this morning -1C I had to surch for my gloves before I went out for a walk with my dog.

At this time of the year I am happy with every single flower that apears. Like this Narcis Tete a Tete. I like all kind of Narcisses but I always forget to order them in Autumn. Time to make a note in my agenda.

Scilla. I love to see her flowers in the light that's shining through the Beechhedge.

I wish you a wonderful new week with many happy moments ahead.

Rosehugs Marijke

    1. Good morning dear Marit,
It's wonderful that you have the Sparrow-Hawk in your garden too!! It was quiet on the blog of the photographer and I was happy that he posted again. I hope your brother love his photo's too!! At the moment I realize how wonderful it is to see the early springflowers. I think I don't have enough of this bulbs or plants in my garden at the moment, because I am to much focust at the roses but it will take a couple of months before they come in to bloom. Well it's never to late to do something about that.
I wish you a wonderful new week ahead.

  3. That is a great photo of a sparrow hawk, Marijke!
I have the narcissi "Tete a tete" on my balcony - first sign of spring (well, after the snowdrops). In one of my rose pots (I have 4) sits a little dark blue scilla - I love it because it reminds me of my parents' garden, where huge fields of those blue flowers were under the fruit trees - they have so many seeds in one little seed capsule!

    1. Good morning dear Britta,
Tete a Tete shows that spring is there. The blue Scilla has an amazing beautiful blue color. The blue one is also in my garden but is still a very small one. I hope one day it will do it's best to spread it's seeds in my little garden. Must be an amazing vieuw in your parents garden to see the huge fields of the blue one.
I wish you a wonderful new week ahead.

  5. Beautiful flowers that you show and spring has come a bit further in your garden. But you have the same and very big variation in temperature. That is weird.

    1. Good morning dear Carina,
Every single flower is so welcome at this time of the year. It's amazing to see how strong everything has to be in the garden. The variation of temperatures here is extreme this year.
      Happy springtime Carina

  6. Hello! Weather looks similar in your place and mine. Repeating warm and cold spell, there is temperature difference from -1 to 22C in a week. I share the same emotion with you at this time of year. Nice shot of Sparrow hawk! Scilla looks like stars on earth and yellow Narcissus is delightful to see.

    1. Good morning dear Yoko,
The temperatures are showing a strange behavior this year. One day it's warm enough to be out without a coat and next day you have to wear gloves again in the early morning hours.
The Scilla is very welcome to me at this time of the year.
Have a wonderful new month of March and happy springtime

  7. The daffodils and Scilla are lovely, Marijke. Hawks scare off the small birds in my garden too but it is hard for them to swoop in undetected and I have yet to see them catch one of the smaller birds. Even though flowers are appearing in greater profusion here, I still get excited by every new bloom I see at this time of year. Yesterday, one of my species tulips 'Lady Jane' made an appearance and I was delighted as I was not sure they would return for a second year - tulips do not like my climate! Best wishes.

    1. Hello Kris,
It is not nice to see the raptor flying away with a little bird in it´s claws. I am to much focust at my roses. I know now that I have to do something to see more flowers at this time of the year. I´ve looked at the internet and tulip Lady Jane is a pretty one. Tulips don´t come back in my garden for a second year. Only the botanical ones come back.
I wish you a wonderful springtime

      Heerlijke dag gewenst.
      Hartelijke groetjes Marijke
